- CANOEING Lee McGregor Nick Tatham

Team SA got off to a flying start at the ICF Canoe Marathon Masters World Cup in Germany on Tuesday winning five medals. First gong went to Radoslaw Olszewski in the men’s C1 50-54 age category who won silver behind Enrique Miguez of Spain. The SA women got in on the act with three medals, Hilde Lapere taking silver in the K1 55-59 age group followed by Lis Hart who won her second bronze medal in as many years in the K1 50-54 age division. SA had to wait until the end of 19km 60-64 age increment race before they could celebrate a gold medal and that was via the heroics of Theo Smit. At 65 years of age, Lee McGregor rounded off a great day winning bronze in the 45-49 age group.
