Hearings on mine communities

Government departments have told the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) that they are becoming increasingly successful at overcoming disjointed responsibilities regarding the socioeconomic effects of mining on communities. The SAHRC is conducting public hearings on issues facing mining communities, ranging from water quality to the economic implications of the industry.
