Bored with the envelope saga, viewers have taken to social media to pick apart actress Nicole Kidman’s eccentric clapping technique, which involves only the palms with the fingers bent backwards at an awkward angle.

So far, the best guesses on the reason for it include that it’s an Australian thing, her enormous diamond ring gets in the way and that she’s protecting her nails.
