Artsy home of opposites in sought-after part of hip Woodstock on sale

-

A design-focused home in upper Woodstock – which has been touted as the most creative, unique and artsy house in the area – is going on auction, late in November.

“Although being one of the oldest neighbourhoods in Cape Town, Woodstock is still one of the hippest. It is an incredible mixing bowl of culture and diversity that come together to make the suburb a vibrant, bustling blend of food, fashion, arts, and design,” says Tanya Jovanovski, franchisee of Rawson Auctions Western Cape. “Homes in the area – which sport amazing, endemic architecture – are quite sought after.”

Much like the suburb, the home up for sale is diverse, eclectic and hip. Its signature design mimics the ambience of loft living in London and New York where opposing styles exist in harmony.

It comprises two-bedrooms (the main having a loft style) both with en suite bathrooms; a third bedroom/domestic quarters with its own bathroom; an open-plan designer kitchen, lounge and dining room; a bar; and original wooden floors throughout.

“The house’s style, while stunning, doesn’t follow any specific guidelines – it does its own thing, so to speak,” says Jovanovski.”

The use of stainless steel and wood in tandem with a warm pallet and plenty of natural light, creates an industrial feel about it (coupling with that loft-like appearance) that remains homely and comfortable. Thick metal tubing rises from the wooden floor to the high-set ceiling; antique furniture is matched with practical seating of metal and plastic; and grand light fixtures hang alongside ceiling fans.

“Never before has opposites come together so seamlessly.”

Outside is a long, rectangle pool – set between the house and the boundary wall, providing privacy when taking a dip – a courtyard, and an automatic tandem garage with parking for about three to four cars.

The 330m² property is just a stone’s throw away from all the trendy Woodstock hot spots, and its neighbour, Observatory.

The property will be going on auction on November 28 at noon at 222 Main Road, Rondebosch (Rawson head office). The reserve price is R4.5m.

Interested parties are requested to submit all offers on the Rawson Auctions standard terms and conditions offer to purchase, a copy of which can be obtained by contacting its office on info@rawsonauctions.com or (021) 837 1700.Bids can be delivered to Rawson Property Group’s head office 222 Main Road, Rondebosch.
