Mining firms the winners in Sunday Times awards

Mining took nine of the top 10 spots in the annual Sunday Times Top 100 Companies Awards, which were held in Johannesburg on Thursday. The winners were determined by the highest returns for shareholders over a fiveyear period. Montauk Renewables came out on top, with a compound annual growth rate of 56.22% for the period from September 1 2017 to August 31 2022. That translates into a return of R93,049 from an initial investment of R10,000. Montauk was followed in second place by Impala Platinum and in third by Royal Bafokeng Platinum. The full results will be published in the Sunday Times on November 13.
