The movers and shakers – what they’re up to now
The Tourism Business Council of South Africa has appointed Blacky Komani as its new Chairman. Komani, who holds a BAdmin (Hons) from the University of Fort Hare and a Master of Tourism Administration degree from George Washington University, has been involved in the tourism industry since 1985, as, among other things, General Manager for the Americas of SA Tourism. In 2002, he was appointed as Sales and Marketing Director for Karell's African Dream Vacations and South African Airways Holidays in the USA, becoming Managing Director in 2004. Komani was also Chief Executive Officer of 1time Holdings from 2011 to 2013. He is currently the Deputy CEO of Tourvest and sits on various boards in the travel and tourism sector, while also serving as a member of the Executive Committee of Tourism Investment Corporation Limited.
