Thanks for creating Sea Point, Green Point spaces

- Jacques Weber Green Point Ratepayers’ and Residents’ Association

WELL done to the City of Cape Town. More often than not, one only reads complaints about the city because people generally take the time to write about the bad but very few about the good.

As a member of the management committee of the Green Point Ratepayers’ and Residents’ Association (GPRRA) I feel it is necessary to compliment the City of Cape Town on a job well done in highlighting the outstanding public space the city has created within Sea Point and Green Point.

The first would be that of the Urban Park – at first many people thought this park would be another failed project, but it has proved to be a public space which is extremely popular and that thousands of people only have praise for.

On any day of the week you can find hundreds of people from different areas around Cape Town using the park for activities from fitness to a family picnic, which is exactly what the City of Cape Town needed.

The second is the new outdoor fitness gym on the Sea Point Promenade, which has been extremely popular and often has a queue of eager aspirant users.

It is great to see how many people use this equipment and the various interactions between everyone. It has created a positive vibe within that area and hopefully the city will extend such a brilliant project to other areas of the beach front and even more importantly, to other areas around the city.

On behalf of the GPRRA and the many residents of Green Point and Sea Point, I would like to thank various role-players within the City of Cape Town who worked tirelessly to secure these two public spaces and make sure they got developed correctly. It is a job well done that has created a legacy which can be shared by all for many years to come.
