Billiat’s back to torment ex-team

-

AFTER a lengthy and much drawn-out saga, Zimbabwean winger Khama Billiat finally made the transfer from Ajax Cape Town to Mamelodi Sundowns.

This evening, Billiat returns to the Mother City to take on his former club, and he is well aware that things could get tough.

While his move was amicable, and he had the blessing from both the Cape club’s management and coach, there is, however, still a measure of unhappiness because Billiat failed to bid his former teammates farewell.

It’s something that could well weigh on the minds of the Ajax players – and Billiat, pictured below, can expect a heated reception at the Cape Town Stadium tonight.

Sundowns are third on the PSL standings, with seven points, and coach Pitso Mosimane is determined to take his team all the way to the top this season.

“You need the right playing attitude, the winning attitude,” he said. “When you combine all of these, you get results. In modern football, and you can look at teams like Real Madrid and Chelsea, you see lots of quality and technique, but you cannot rely on these attributes only... We believe that we have the quality to win against any team in our league.

“But we must work on the other aspects because, if we do not, teams that might not have the same quality but rely on their work ethic and will to win, may beat us.” – Sports Staff and Sapa
