Die Van Aardes van Grootoor into a play which ran for 18 months in Joburg and now the sprawling soapie has been transforme­d into a musical with book and lyrics by Uys, who also directs.

Godfrey Johson has created the new music and it will star Natasha van der Merwe, Schalk Bezuidenho­ut, Caely-Jo Levy, Dean Roberts, Tankiso Mamabolo, Clarissa Roodt, Shalima Mkongi and Louw Breytenbac­h.

Die Van Aardes van Grootoor runs at the Theatre on the Bay until January 9 – no shows on Sunday or today, December 25 and 26 or January 1. It runs at 145 minutes with a 15-minute interval and no children under the age of five are allowed.
