Superior breeding livestock to be given to farmers in E Cape

IN A BID to improve the quality of rural livestock, Eastern Cape Rural Development and Agrarian Reform MEC Mlibo Qoboshiyane will hand over superior genetic breeding animals to OR Tambo livestock farmers in Mqanduli tomorrow.

Because of the poor quality of their animals, rural farmers and livestock owners were unable to obtain economic value from their livestock, the department said yesterday.

“Hence the livestock production improvement programme is aimed at improving the quality of provincial livestock to promote sustainable and profitable livestock production by supplying superior animal genetic breeding material to them.” – ANA
