Zuma Q and A session

Fadiel Davis: Wondering what will happen when Zuma decriminalises Cannabis Sativa in South Africa and we make billions like America, making a true apartheid change…

UCT set to rename buildings

Eileen Bownes: In the end no one will know the real history of South Africa. Dolores De Beer: High time. The new names must be KhoiSan because the university was built on Khoi burial ground. Names such as Krotoa and Sarah Baartman are essential. Cheryl Button: Honestly, are there not better things to focus time and money on? Spend money on education and ways of accruing funds instead of on re-naming. Why not use the money to build more buildings and put names on them? Our fees being spent on plaques is wasting time and money.

First head of nursing at Groote Schuur retires

Cheryl Bruyns: Wow! These nursing garments were respectable for woman nurses. Shehaam Hendricks: Despite apartheid she remained dedicated. Stan Davids: Congratulations Maureen. May your retirement be as enjoyable as your working career. Glen Esau: That’s my Auntie… so very proud of her… love her to bits. Freda Moodley: A well-deserved retirement,

Maureen Ross. Walter Calvin Vanner: A true dedicated Florence Nightingale. Enjoy your welldeserved rest – the fruits of your compassionate labour. Ntombesisa Qukwana: Congratulations, Ms Ross. In these difficult times of being a health worker you are giving us a way forward. Marilyn February Delport: Remember her so well; she was one of the first sisters I trained under and had a great admiration and respect for her. How quickly the years have passed. Anne Campbell: Thank you, Sister Ross. You were so strict in F1, but as student I learnt a lot. God bless. Frank Nicholas William Brutus: You were born to be a leader. I got to know you as a two-striper student nurse. So sad for me to see you leaving Grotties, but you deserve it. Jan Webster: Dear Mrs Ross, you may not remember me from ComaCARE, but thank you for all your years of service and dedication to nursing. Jianni Bruiners Fitz: Enjoy your retirement, Mrs Ross. We salute you for being a worthy, compassionate and gracious role model. Valencia Williams: They definitely don’t make them like this anymore. Michelle September: Thank you for your contribution to the medical fraternity. Enjoy your retirement years. Kudos to Maureen Ross. Thembani Genu: So she was appointed head of nursing at Groote Schuur four years ago. I am wondering whether that means for you to qualify to be head of something you must have at least 40 years’ experience in that area? I hope not… If so, it’s madness.

Hi. I’m also a retired nurse. I recognised the cape, the cap, etc. I trained at the old Somerset Hospital. Thank you for the dedication to a much-loved and respected profession. Blessed day to you. Lillian Harris: One of the first people I met when coming to work at Groote Schuur Hospital almost 35 years ago was also so friendly and never failed to greet other workers in the passages.

Man loses leg after superbug

Eileen Bownes: Very good hospital, also treat you very well, but this is scary. Giuseppe Vittorio Vitali: Only one solution – train staff to keep the hospital sterilised. Very difficult to do knowing the conditions staff members live in.

The big question that has to be asked and answered is, how have the Guptas managed to acquire such influence over Zuma? One would need to be seriously naive to believe it’s just because they gave his son a job. Time for a really thorough follow-the-money investigation. – William Bowler, Hout Bay

Kobus van Wyk heaped another embarrassment on top of others on Zelim Nel and Gavin Rich. He was turned over like a helpless infant after his selection was billed as a measure against that. Then he only catches one high-ball and generally hides in plain sight. We said it before – Zelim Nel and Gavin Rich spin convenient theories to justify their prejudices. Kurt Coleman, derided by them as a player with a suspect temperament, kicked with aplomb and steered his team like a general across the field. – David Esau, Belhar
