Situation in Wynberg under DA’s watch getting out of hand

-

THE RECENT anti-crime meeting at the Wynberg police station was a bit of a damp squib. Judging from the irate views of those present, many were left with the impression that law enforcement officials don’t seem to understand what numerous business owners and residents are being subjected to on a daily basis.

Inefficient council officials at the meeting were also unable to explain why three law enforcement vehicles (registration numbers CA203916, CCT30842 and CCT32276) were standing idle at their Wellington Road offices recently while a drug deal was taking place in daylight a few metres away. The Langley and Ebor roads area appears to be the worst affected as Wynberg Main Road is now a cesspool of debauchery.

Ten service delivery failures were also noted on the meeting agenda – an indication that Wynberg is literally falling apart despite ratepayers money filling the coffers of “the city that works for you”.

In a bizarre sequel, ward councillor Liz Brunette bemoaned the fact that there was a shortage of law enforcement staff due to funding constraints; yet the city recently wasted thousands of rand of taxpayers’ money on a lengthy and expensive advertising campaign cajoling the public to support their metro police staff.

The local DA administration in the city need to clean Wynberg up immediately. If they don’t, they may find themselves being cleaned out of office by voters in the local elections.
