On a roll: 2016 #MillionComforts campaign takes off

-

INDEPENDENT Media, Dis-Chem and Dis-Chem Foundation have already amassed 637 000 sanitary pads since the launch of the 2016 #MillionComforts campaign last Wednesday.

It has taken less than a week to bring in one-third of the total amount of products collected last year.

#MillionComforts aims to bring in 2.5million menstrual hygiene products this year following the success of the campaign last year when 1.6 million sanitary pads were collected.

Readers are urged to donate a pack for R9.95 at any of the 100 Dis-Chem stores countrywide or at one of 50 The Local Choice pharmacy stores. The manufacturers of the pads bought will match the donation for the duration of the campaign that runs until the end of next month.

All the collected sanitary pads will be distributed to under-privileged girls, who are prone to missing school when they experience their period and have no suitable disposable protection.

Caring4Girls is the organisation responsible for selecting the beneficiaries.

“We are just blown away by the public support of this campaign, we are so happy to be facilitating this initiative with Independent Media and Caring4girls… We still have a way to go to reach 2.5 million and are confident we will achieve this,” said , DisChem Foundation’s Penny Stein. – Staff Reporter
