Vardy set to stay as Foxes add to squad; Blanc to leave PSG

DEFENDER Luis Hernandez has joined Leicester City on a free transfer from La Liga side Sporting Gijon on a four-year contract.

The 27-year-old, who made almost 140 appearance­s during his four-year spell with Gijon, heavily featured for the Spanish side this season, making 36 starts as the club narrowly escaped relegation.

Hernandez becomes Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri’s second signing of the close season, following the capture of German keeper Ron-Robert Zieler from Hannover, as he hopes to build a squad ready to defend their league title.

The addition of Hernandez will provide competitio­n to the first-choice centre-back pairing, Wes Morgan and Robert Huth.

LEICESTER striker Jamie Vardy is likely to turn down a move to Arsenal and stay at the Premier League champions, the north London club’s manager Arsene Wenger has said.

COACH Laurent Blanc will leave Ligue 1 champions Paris St Germain by the end of the week, despite signing a twoyear contract extension in February, his agent Jean Pierre Bernes said on Monday.

Under Blanc, who replaced Carlo Ancelotti in June 2013, PSG claimed their second successive domestic treble last season but went out in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
