Panic stations for Ajax after another defeat in the PSL

-

NOW, surely, it’s time to panic, Ajax Cape Town.

The Cape side were defeated 2-1 by Wits at the Cape Town Stadium last night, and if the situation hadn’t been a concern for them before, then, surely, it should be troubling them now. Six league games into the PSL season, Ajax are yet to win a game

Ajax went ahead in the first half when Zimbabwean defender Eric Chipeta swept in a delightful, curling free-kick.

Then, 20 minutes before fulltime, Ajax goalkeeper Jody February deflected a powerful header from Wits captain Thulani Hlatshwayo on to the crossbar and striker Eleazar Rodgers was on hand to steer in the rebound. Wits got the winner when Mogakolodi Ngele crashed in a shot a minute before fulltime.

A Sydwyn George hat-trick set Royal Eagles up for a 4-1 victory over FC Cape Town at NNK stadium yesterday.

George headed in from a long throw-in, and scored from the spot, before striker Ranga Chivaviro nodded in from a corner, for a 2-1 half-time scoreline. Eagles sealed the win with a 61st minute strike from George and a volleyed goal 12 minutes later from Raymond Monana.

Santos notched up their third consecutive draw in a 0-0 stalemate against last-placed Magesi FC and Cape Town All Stars held the in-form Black Leopards 1-1. Meanwhile, Milano United lost 2-1 to league leaders Thanda Royal Zulu and Stellenbosch FC triumphed 3-1 against Jomo Cosmos. –
