A man of honour takes Mr SA title
NEWLY-crowned Mr South Africa strives to be a good role model to aspirational men and aims to change the perception the competition is only about looks. “It’s about being a model man and a man of honour.”
Habib Noorbhai, 28, received his title on Thursday night and has already outlined his itinerary for the duration of his reign.
He is a Sports Science lecturer and researcher at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology, the director of a non-profit organisation – The Humanitarians – and has dedicated his career of biokinetics to the community.
“Having done the strategic plan for the next 365 days, most of the issues that I would like to try and address in my reign encompass healthcare, education, physical activity and sport, innovation, charity work through sustainable means, youth development, and entrepreneurship,” he said.
He has also teamed up with the Cancer Association of South Africa and Fighting Against Bullying and Abuse.
Noorbhai’s motto, “The ink of a scholar and the heart of a volunteer is holier than the blood of a martyr,” is what drives his passion and daily activities.
“We are on this earth for a very short time, we need to spend most of our time out of our comfort zone making sustainable changes in the lives of others.
“Your life is a message to the world, make sure it is inspiring and leave a legacy behind.”
