'The Happiest 5k on the Planet' returns

-

THOUSANDS OF Color Run enthusiasts will converge on Stellenbosch High School to participate in the much anticipated event on Saturday.

Stellenbosch will host the event for the second time and is expected to attract a crowd of more than 3 000 people.

National event co-ordinator Trevor Latimer yesterday recalled the event’s past series which took place in cities across South Africa.

“We are very excited about our upcoming event as it’s our first event of the year. Our last event which was also the largest in Cape Town saw about 15 000 people participating. We hope to see a lot of supporters this year too. The great thing about the event is that it welcomes everyone, even young children. The powder used in the race is 100% environmentally friendly and we have an amazing clean-up team”, he said.

The Color Run, founded five years ago, is aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle and happiness by bringing the community together to participate in “The Happiest 5k on the Planet” and paints over 40 countries in rainbows.

Stellenbosch residents and visitors will get to experience an untimed race in which thousands of Color Runners will be sprinkled from head to toe in a different colour at each kilometre.

The Color Run has partnered with the Adopt-a-School Foundation in an attempt to donate R10 from every ticket sold to support education in each city hosting the event.

The Color Run is also set to take its event to Soweto in April, said Latimer. For more information, visit www. thecolorrun.co.za. – Staff Reporter
