THE body of a man was found on Chapman’s Peak, days after the body of a woman was found on Table Mountain.

The man’s body was discovered on Chapman’s Peak on Wednesday morning.

Police said the man was found naked with his hands bound, with visible injuries. “The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation,” police spokesperson FC van Wyk said.

Meanwhile, the decomposed body of a woman was found at Platteklip Gorge on Tuesday. Police were still trying to identify her, and a post-mortem was due to be conducted.

According to a source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, the woman’s body was found near a big white rock.

The source also said four cellphones and sweet wrappers were found near her body. In March, the Cape Argus wrote an article about UN Children’s Fund associate director Charlotte Nikoi, who went missing on March 21.

Nikoi went missing after going hiking with her family on Platteklip Gorge. UN officials are still waiting for the postmortem results.

“All we know at this point is that we have received reports from UN security officials that the remains of a woman have been found on Table Mountain. We are waiting for police forensics to identify the body,” Unicef spokesperson Najwa Mekkin said.

Nikoi’s husband Chris told the Cape Argus he was aware of the body found but did not have any more information.

“I have received information about the body. The police told me that they will give me information tomorrow,” he said.
