The Clooneys’ countdown to twinmaggedon begins!

- Tanith Carey

SHE’S a high-powered human rights barrister who manages to look catwalk-ready wherever she is.

He’s the debonair career bachelor who, until his 50s, said he had no interest in marriage, let alone children.

So to say the world is waiting with bated breath to see how George and Amal Clooney’s lives will change when their twins arrive any day is something of an understatement.

The obsessively private pair have been secretive about their new arrivals, sharing details about their due date and gender with only close friends and confidantes.

But even they can’t be trusted not to let the cat out of the bag. Close friend Cindy Crawford was pictured holding up a pair of tiny baby suits, one with pink lettering and the other blue, apparently confirming that the Clooneys are expecting a girl and a boy. The names Casa and Migos were a tongue-in-cheek reference to George’s Casamigos tequila brand.

It was an appearance by Amal, 39, who swopped her usual body-con look for a loose-fitting floral dress at a film screening in January, which sparked the pregnancy rumours. Amal was last seen in March, addressing the UN in New York and later in London speaking at Chatham House on war crimes in Iraq and Syria.

The Clooneys bought their Grade II-listed manor house on a private island on the River Thames, after their wedding in September 2014.

From the start the nine-bedroom house, which was on the market for £7.5 million, was earmarked as the ideal family home and they spent an estimated £20m making it perfect.

This included a fence around the waterside property ensuring it is safer for children.

Now they have the ideal spot to raise their family, George and Amal are not going anywhere. They have spent the third trimester of Amal’s pregnancy in England, with both eschewing their busy work schedules. George and Amal are fully integrated into village life. George surprised locals with a generous £1 000 donation to the renovation of Dunsden Village Hall. Actress Julia Roberts, a long-time friend of George’s and mother of twins herself (13-year-old Hazel and Phinnaeus), has been on-hand with support.

Although the couple have homes in the US and Italy, they’ve opted to have their twins in London.

Hands-on George has pledged to stay with Amal throughout the birth and he’s admitted that he’s not entirely clueless around children.

The Clooneys’ four-acre estate has outbuildings that could house one or even two nannies.

But sources insist the couple will not be hiring a nanny.

Boasting a stellar career dedicated to raising awareness of global human rights violations, Amal is not the sort of woman to give it all up for motherhood.

Any child of the Clooneys can apply for dual British-American nationality.

However, George has been clear he plans to raise his family in the UK for the first few years.

Amal has been calm throughout her pregnancy, while George has been overawed by the prospect of having twins, describing it as an “immense responsibility”. – Daily Mail
