A TEAM of pupils from Muscat, Oman has touched down in Cape Town for the World Scholar’s Cup which is being held until next week.

The World Scholar’s Cup is an international competition that attracts the best and brightest pupils from around the world.

Faaris Kukkadi, Ismat Qayum and Matthew Reddy are in Cape Town preparing for the next round. The team is preparing for their General Certificate of Secondary Education and A-levels.

The round will take place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre and will be held from today until Tuesday. The first World Scholar’s Cup took place in 2006 in Seoul. Its ethos is to create something different than the average traditional academic competitions and conferences.

The goal was to celebrate the joy of learning. The goal is to enrich and motivate pupils and not just demonstrate their existing strengths but to discover new ones. The event has pupils from over 50 countries around the world participating. The finals will be held at Yale University in the US.
