Shadley’s showcase of musical mastery
A YOUNG up-and-coming actor and singer is hoping his debut production will launch his career as a serious theatre producer.
Shadley Schroeder, 24, who has been singing and dancing since the tender age of five, will be performing in his debut production,
at Joseph Stone Auditorium, in Athlone, on October 20 and 21.
Schroeder said he grew up in Crawford and described himself as a simple boy from the Cape Flats. Schroeder acted in the movie,
and was part of the David Kramer adaptation of
which was staged at the Fugard Theatre.
He has produced his own musical, which is influenced by Motown, soul and old school music, and features a live band.
“The reason why I selected to produce a show of this nature is because I feel that many of the sounds, music and lyrics have faded in the hearts, homes and lives of many people.”
will feature a cast of six local artists who inspire him and he has worked with in other productions.
“The storyline is for my audience to embrace and enjoy the musical journey with me and some friends. I am anxious but at the same time excited,” said Schroeder.
Schroeder said to make it in the South African entertainment industry is a challenge, however, as an artist he is always open to learning from experiences and other artists.
