Powerful example set by volunteers

-

CLEAN road verges and sparkling rivers, decent health and hygiene in schools and shacks, a bright book or DVD on every shelf to inspire the youth to reach their dreams – this is what Heritage Day means to me, and to all the Friends of Mowbray Library members.

What I learnt from Mandela Day in July, is that no matter what their status or position in society, every one of my fellow citizens has the capacity to amaze me, and to make me thankful.

Thank you for the kind donations that the Mowbray Library received from at least three sources: Tokai Library staff, UCT Research Unit, and some individual residents. They made generous contributions of books and DVD materials.

Going the extra mile, they also spent time providing plastic covers, ensuring books were in prime condition for readers.

On behalf of the Mowbray community, we want to acknowledge your powerful example of generous voluntary action; ensuring the opportunity to share, to learn and to pursue knowledge will continue to grow at Mowbray Library.

Join us on November 30 when we will be hosting, a community health festival, in partnership

with the City’s Health Services.

The librarian in charge at Mowbray Library, with her excellent team, also facilitated a memorable and awesome Mandela Day this year.
