Investigation under way into triple murder in Mfuleni
POLICE are investigating a triple murder that occurred in Mfuleni at the weekend.
Spokesperson Noloyiso Rwexana confirmed three men, aged between 30 and 45 years, were shot dead while sitting inside a vehicle in Ndlunkulu Street, Polar Park, Mfuleni.
She said the incident occurred on Friday at 7pm. “Circumstances surrounding this incident are under investigation. No one has been arrested at this stage.”
On the same day, in Khayelitsha, officers from the Khayelitsha Cluster received a tipoff about illegal activities in Tsepe-Tsepe informal settlement.
Police searched the address and recovered a total of 42 live shotgun rounds and arrested a 20-year-old suspect for the illegal possession of ammunition.
Another illegal firearm, a Norinco pistol, was found in a shop, also in the informal settlement.
The pistol’s serial number had been filed off and 14 live rounds were recovered.
Rwexana said two two men, aged 21 and 25, were arrested for possession of an illegal firearm. Once charged they will appear at the Khayelitsha Magistrate’s Court.
The Hawks’ Narcotics Enforcement Bureau, in a joint operation with the Crime Intelligence Division, intercepted a vehicle that was transporting drugs on Friday. Hawks spokesperson Philani Nkwalase said the vehicle was spotted on Owen Road, in Elsies River.
Found inside were 20 bags containing packets of Mandrax tablets worth over R8.9 million. – Staff Reporter and African News Agency (ANA)
