Charged for ‘service package’ without reading small print

- C Boshoff

I OBTAINED your e-mail address from an article that I had read about misleading advertising.

I am in a similar situation. I thought I was applying for a loan from LoanSpotter SA, when in fact I was buying a “service package”.

I answered all the questions and did something stupid, which was to put down my banking details.

I thought I had to do this to apply. I also accepted the terms and conditions, just to see afterwards what they actually contained. I did not read everything carefully.

However, they debited my account. I called my bank to reverse it and called LoanSpotter to say I was not interested in their “service package” and I had not known that I was buying it.

Now letters of demand are being sent to me and they want to blacklist me, although I sent them an e-mail stating what had happened and that it was misleading advertising. I don’t know what else to do, but I feel they misled me and I see a lot of other people have been through the same thing.
