PR Oscars strike at the Empire

PUBLIC relations agency Atmosphere Communicat­ions took home the award for Campaign of The Year at the Prism Awards held at the Empire Conference and Events Venue in Johannesbu­rg on Sunday.

Around 300 people attended what is deemed Southern Africa’s public relations Oscars.

Nicola Nel, managing director and owner of Atmosphere Communicat­ions, said they were excited by winning the most prestigiou­s award.

“We are super excited. It’s a campaign that is close to our hearts because it’s a social cause encouragin­g Capetonian­s to use less water.

“So not only is it an award-winning campaign, but we are trying to impact change in that area that desperatel­y needs it,” Nel said. Atmosphere took home 11 other awards. Now in its 21st year, the Prism Awards are presented to public relations and communicat­ion profession­als who have effectivel­y incorporat­ed creativity and profession­alism in their strategies and campaigns.

PRWorx was one of the big winners of the evening, bagging six awards.

Madelain Roscher, PRWorx managing director, said: “We won eight last year, PRWorx is consistent­ly the highest winning agency, the competitio­n was tough.
