Football fans a fickle bunch

I SUPPOSE it is just a different mentality but when great football players leave Liverpool they become victims of unsavoury social media abuse, unfair treatment, unjust comparisons and personal character slander by certain Liverpool fans.

However, when great players leave Manchester United, they are still hero-worshipped long after they’ve left – Cristiano Ronaldo and David Beckham are but two whose goals, skills and accomplishments are still mentioned and published by Manchester United fans on many social media platforms and networks. They are still loved and admired by the club and its fans!

I suppose the professional era is a difficult concept to grasp by some and I dread the day Mohamed Salah is courted by another club and he makes a professional decision to leave Liverpool. Will the Liverpool fans be singing a different tune? Never say never, as nothing in football is guaranteed.
