Youth in push for peace

-

THE International Peace Youth Group (IPYG) recently visited Holy Cross High School to educate pupils on its work and the campaign called the “Declaration of Peace and Cessation of Wars”.

About 110 pupils aged 14 to 18 as well as teachers actively engaged in the dialogue on the importance of preserving peace in society.

One of the pupils shared that he was so excited to take part in something that would make a difference.

“I dream of living in a world where I don’t have to look over my shoulder but can be completely safe and free,’’ he said.

The pupils all resolved to spread the word of peace in their communities and to advocate for world peace.

The IPYG has a goal of collecting 70 000 “peace letters” from young people that will be hand-delivered to President Cyril Ramaphosa during July, urging him to help implement the law of peace as “this is what the youth of the country really want”.
