Women sign accord to foster world peace

“WOMEN are the mothers of the Earth, and are encouraged to take up their role to advocate for peace.”

This is according to Internatio­nal Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) spokespers­on Yoon Hyun Sook, who addressed the Women’s Forum at the Westin Hotel yesterday.

The discussion, which saw women from across the continent gather, formed part of a Peace Summit led by Heavenly Culture World Peace Restoratio­n of Light (HWPL) that hopes to encourage Africa to adopt the Declaratio­n of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW) framework to end conflict.

HWPL chairperso­n Man Hee Lee, who arranged the summit, said it was the duty of mothers and women in society to advocate for peace.

society. It was a special gathering, with a pledge signed to acknowledg­e and take up the responsibi­lity to advocate for peace.”

Her Majesty Semane Bonolo Molotlegi of the Royal Bafokeng Nation, treated the women to a song.

They accepted the DPCW, a legal document that seeks to put an end to conflicts and future wars, and to attain world peace to leave a legacy of peace for future generation­s.
