Cape Argus

Thanks to our readers for the positive feedback

I TOOK a call yesterday from a Cape Argus subscriber Rhona Jacobs, 74, from Wynberg, who has been reading the paper since she was 12. She complained about the font size of articles and puzzles in the Weekend Argus, but said she noticed the improvement in Monday’s paper. Thank you so much, Rhona, for calling in.

On a different note: Golden Arrow’s electronic card fare collection system is quite interesting. One benefit is a reduction in the time it takes to board a bus. Like the MyCiti card, Golden Arrow’s also offers passengers the benefit of cashless bus fares. Our local commuter bus services seem organised and efficient. One would expect no less in a world-class city like Cape Town.

Wouldn’t it be great if the same could be said about Metrorail? It makes the news for all the wrong reasons. Metrorail has its work cut out to return to a safe, efficient and reliable train service. Capetonians can help by reporting vandalism and suspicious behaviour.

On the sporting front: Could WP have started their Currie Cup campaign on a better note?

After kicking off their title defence with a resounding 32-0 victory at a rain-soaked Newlands two weeks ago, it was always going to be hard to top that first performance, although the Cheetahs weren’t the sharpest opposition on the day.

But Province’s round three triumph against the Pumas in Nelspruit – a match during which they scored 57 points to the hosts’ 28 – could perhaps be described as even better than the first.

Peace.
