A LARGE crowd of fans gathered outside the Cape Town City Hall to show their support for Cape Town City FC in a ticker-tape parade organised by the mayor.

Cape Town City FC won the MTN8 Championship on Saturday at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.

The team and coach arrived on an open-top red bus with an MC addressing the fans. Mayor Patricia de Lille formally paid tribute to the team.

She also expressed her gratitude to the supporters who spur on the team to perform their best and turn out to watch them play.

“We are so proud of our team and for such a young team… It’s only hard work that can make you a winner, and we must take the example of Cape Town City FC to work hard in our city,” said De Lille.

It’s the first trophy coach Benni McCarthy has won since being appointed as the Cape Town City FC head coach. |
