6 YEARS FOR CORRUPT EX-HOTEL EMPLOYEE
FORMER Table Bay Hotel’s maintenance administrator Ian John Pakoe was sentenced to an effective six years in prison for receiving “kickbacks” after corruptly awarding tenders.
Pakoe was sentenced in the Bellville Commercial Crimes Court after he was convicted for contravening the Prevention of Corrupt Activities (POCA) Act.
It was the State’s case that Pakoe and the Table Bay Hotel’s former maintenance manager Anthony Lottering conspired in the commission of the crimes.
Pakoe was also convicted of failing to file his tax returns for 2008 and 2009.
