- SUKAINA ISHMAIL sukaina.ishmail@inl.co.za

A GROUP of young people gathered at the Castle of Good Hope hoping to become the new leaders of the continent.

The Africa Future Leaders Hub conference aims to bring the different children of Africa together to interact with each other and unite through educational and inspirational speeches.

The castle is hosting the hub until Sunday.

The Africa Future Leaders Hub Organisation is a public speaking academy based in Cape Town that aims to empower young people aged between 10 and 18 years old through public speeches and talks.

The first day of the event yesterday presented various speakers and performers.

A special Chinese dance group and the International Peace Youth Group performed in front of a crowd of about 300 children and many other visitors.

The speeches were about educating the youth on how they should strive to be the best they can be, by the various keynote speakers. A total of 150 of the children attending are from South Africa, and the other 150 came from five other countries – Lesotho, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Tanzania and Mozambique.

“We are an organisation that aims to change Africa. Our vision is that in 30 years time Africa should be a better place, and the only way we are going to do that is to empower the young ones,” said Asv Den Ralekoala, the founder and chairperson of the hub.
