THE SA National Defence Force (SANDF) graduation held in Saldanha Bay marked a new era in the military voyage of graduates who will now be pursuing careers in the defence of citizens.

The annual passing-out parade took place yesterday and honoured and rewarded the soldiers who stood out during their academic learning at the Military Academy.

For the first time ever the academy produced two PhD graduates in military science, two cum laude graduates and 17 Honours graduates in various fields.

“The graduates will now contribute to the development of the organisation and enable the military force to continue with its mandate as enshrined in the country’s constitution,” said Brigadier-General Gerald Pharo.

“The young officers will return to the SANDF and be utilised in regiments and units and hopefully they’re educated so well that they can solve some of the complex problems out there.

“They’re positive and looking forward to going back to their battalions in the army, air force, navy and medical health services.”
