Limited course space at CPUT for walk-ins
STUDENTS who did not apply on time to the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) are advised to seek placement before the end of the month.
“Walk-ins (late applications) are generally more likely to be open in the Engineering or Applied Science faculties and are often a good opportunity for learners who did not get accepted at their first higher-education option to redirect to another institution,” said CPUT spokesperson Lauren Kansley.
Kansley said CPUT would start the walk-in process from January 23, “only in courses with space”.
She said students with good physical science and mathematics marks who were interested in engineering or science streams were encouraged to watch the CPUT website for a list of courses with space.
Kansley was responding to the issue of students who have been flocking to the university trying to secure a spot for the new academic year.
“We will consider them but we will first allocate spaces to students who applied on time and have been accepted, provisionally accepted or wait-listed.” Kansley said.
CPUT academic administration director Kuselwa Marala said students must consult the list of programmes available for walk-ins, and regretfully there would be no Recognition of Prior Learning applications considered.
Marala said students must check the admission requirements on the CPUT website. “One must ensure that they meet the minimum admission and subject requirements for their programme of choice.
“Students must also certify all their supporting documentation with certification of not less than three months old.”
