SUPERSPORT United are set to acquire the services of Phumlani Ntshangase on a permanent basis.

Ntshangase is on loan from Wits until the end of the season, and his contract with Wits is set to expire in June.

Ntshangase joined Wits ahead of the 2013/14 season, and won the League, Top 8 and Telkom Knockout with the Clever Boys.

Ntshangase has made 16 starts for United across all the competitions this season, and his agent, Sizwe Ntshangase, confirmed that SuperSport are favourites to land him on a permanent deal when his contract expires.

“The player is happy at SuperSport. He is getting regular game time which is what he wanted. The two clubs are in talks about whether the deal will be done now or in June,” Sizwe Ntshangase said.

“We will be waiting for the two sides to conclude talks and then we will take it from there.”

SuperSport Chief Executive Officer Stanley Matthews has already made it clear that he will be signing two players before the end of this transfer window.

“Chances are very slim that he will pen a new deal with Wits. He is happy where he is right now and the club is also happy with his services but like I said, it will all depend on the talks between the two clubs,” he added.

SuperSport will be parting ways with Fagrie Lakay, with the player on his way to Wits. Matthews said this past weekend that they have agreed in principle on the deal to transfer Lakay. His contract was due to expire in June.

SuperSport will also be losing Thuso Phala at the end of the season. His current deal is set to expire in June., and he will leave on a free transfer. Phala is currently temporarily suspended after missing few training sessions.

Bloemfontein Celtic are the only side which have inquiried about his services.
