HILL’S Pet Nutrition is recalling select canned dog food batches due to potentially elevated levels of vitamin D.

Affected products include Hill’s™ Science Plan™ Canine Youthful Vitality Stew 354g, Canine Metabolic + Mobility Stew 354g, Canine i/d Low Fat Stew 354g, Canine Derm Defense™ Stew 354g, Canine Adult Stew 354g and Canine Derm Defense™ Stew 354g.

On its website on February 1, Hills said that while vitamin D was an essential nutrient for dogs, “ingestion of elevated levels can lead to potential health issues.”

If you’ve bought the product with the specific batch numbers listed, discontinue feeding and dispose of the product or return unopened product to your veterinary outlet for a refund.
