Dire lack of practical skills from schooling

- MICHAEL BAGRAIM Highlands Estate

WITH regards to “Urgent need to reform education” (Cape Argus, February 14). Well done to Mogamat Arnold for bringing this to the country’s attention.

Unfortunately, our children leave their schools without any practical skills whatsoever.

It was Mark Twain who said something to the effect of: “I never let my schooling get in the way of my education.”

The business community is crying out for school leavers, who have practical skills and who can fulfil vital tasks within the respective organisations.

We should try to send some of our policy makers to Germany, to investigate the dual education system.
