Programme awards lady entrepreneurs
ENHANCING the livelihood of female entrepreneurs, First Lady Chamber (FLC) has hosted its inaugural 12-month entrepreneurship programme.
The event also saw the top 10 finalists being awarded with FLC certificates of completion along with the top three winners receiving prizes that would assist in their business growth.
The first prize and title of FLC Business of the Year Award 2019 included a business mentor for the upcoming year, a month’s free desk space at Co Lab training solutions, a five-day business trip to Doha, Qatar, (flights and accommodation included), as well being hosted by the Qatari Business Women’s Association.
The second prize winner was awarded with the Entrepreneurship in Action online short course sponsored by the Red and Yellow Business school, while the third prize winner received a R5 000 cash prize sponsored by Aspire Honeycomb Solutions.
The 12-month programme progressively develops the business mindset of small businesses from various industries such as fashion, design, events and personal development.
A panel of facilitators includes brand and marketing lecturer Caitlin Ferreira, business coach Rushda Behardien, tax practitioner Cheron Roggen and Fazlin Jakoet, an advocate, teacher and storyteller.
The top five winners were Aneeka Moosa from Purely Elegant SA, Gadija Khan from Gadija Khan Design, Rushdiyah Narker from Wimsy, Tarryn Cardre from My BaiBai and Zaitoon Ebrahim from Being with Purpose.
Narker received the FLC Business of the Year Award.
Khan received second prize and Cardre third.
The awards and prizes were then handed over by State Security Minister Ayanda Dlodlo, who also delivered the keynote address.
