- Staff reporter

THE West Coast Technical Vocational Education and Training College will partner with Western Cape tourism, trade and investment promotion agency Wesgro and GreenCape, which supports investors in the green economy, to offer residents of Atlantis and the surrounding community the opportunity to become part of the Occupational Readiness Programme (ORP).

The college will be offering the programme at its Atlantis campus. “The ORP is a foundation phase programme of equipping students to participate in development programmes aligned to the green economy,” said Andre Muller, the college’s senior manager of occupational delivery.

A hundred students will be trained to take up any of the occupation opportunities within the Atlantis Special Economic Zone (SEZ).

The college will be participating in the Learner Activation Day in Atlantis on December 10, where it will showcase various skills and training opportunities, and will be supporting the message that learners should continue to grow their skills, especially in light of all the new opportunities that will become available. The event will take place between 9am and 2pm at Wesfleur Library Hall.

“The SEZ is an important developmental tool that we believe will play a big role in unlocking the skills development and skills transfer opportunities that we are proud to be a part of, and play a role in this programme.

“We encourage the community to support and encourage learners from the surrounding area to see what the future could hold for them in the Atlantis community,” said Rhazia Hamza, deputy principal: innovation and development, at the college |
