DA MP mum after tweet on Cele’s ‘mad’ liquor ban

THE DA says it is following the government’s 21-day lockdown regulations on the sale and movement of liquor, despite one of its MPs describing the ban as a “mad decision”.

In a tweet posted on Sunday afternoon, the party’s Higher Education

Science and Technology spokesperson Belinda Bozzoli took exception to the ban imposed and enforced by Police Minister Bheki Cele.

“Cele’s mad decision to ban alcohol has backfired spectacularly. Looting not unexpected,” Bozzoli posted.

The tweet came after the burglary and looting of a major retail outlet’s liquor store in Langa township yesterday.

When contacted by Independent Media yesterday Bozzoli refused to comment. |
