Helping textile businesses to stay in game
BUSINESSES in the clothing and textile industry will be offered online support sessions through a Covid-19 risk mitigation programme which will help businesses prepare themselves for the post-shutdown.
The City, in partnership with the Cape Clothing and Textile Cluster (CCTC), established the online programme as a way of educating businesses and advising them on ways to remain functional and stable throughout the lockdown.

James Vos said: “In these uncertain and rapidly evolving circumstances it is crucial that firms respond quickly to the challenges they face. In the context of the pandemic, no one is an expert on what to do.
“This forum will allow for firms to tap into the collective knowledge of the group facilitated by the CCTC team.”
Vos said the online working groups would establish a platform to rapidly generate and disseminate shared learnings in the framework of risk mitigation.
“The City supports this approach between the various business partners because shared learnings and shared resources help promote growth and competitiveness within the clothing and textile sector,” he said.
Vos said there are all types of businesses able to participate in the sessions, including clothing, textile, leather and footwear.
The group sessions were to run during the lockdown from yesterday until April 15.
The initiative focuses on five key themes: health and safety, cash flow management, supply chain management, operations and retail demand.
Invitations for each event will be distributed through an Outlook Calendar invitation. For queries, email cctc@ bmanalysts.com
