NIPPING IN THE BUD
THEO ANDRAG uses a bossiekapper (a giant lawnmower) on his John Deere tractor to cut bright yellow Ramnas on a large open field in Glen Garry near Durbanville. A major problem for almost every farmer at this time of the year is the weed, Ramnas, a type of wild radish. It overtakes most crops. Andrag is removing the weed to prevent the shoots from spreading seed and to prevent field fires during summer. Send your photos to arglet@inl.co.za.
