Police seize cigarettes, drugs

A POLICE integrated team, in conjunction with crime intelligence, conducted a search operation, seized cigarettes and tobacco products in Mbekweni, and arrested four suspects in separate incidents.

During Tuesday’s operation, officers seized 2 290 packets of cigarettes and tobacco products with an estimated value of R1.1 million at an address where R82 580 in cash was also found.

Police spokesperson Colonel André Traut said those responsible were being sought.

Four suspects were arrested earlier for possession of drugs. Traut said officers raided six premises and arrested the suspects, who were found in possession of dagga, tik and mandrax tablets. |
