DA leadership must take land seriously

-

THE City of Cape Town ignored the poorest of the poor and must face a revolt for not delivering needed services in townships including Langa; Nyanga; Khayelitsha; Strand; Mitchells Plain; Khayamnandi and many informal settlements around Cape Town.

I am calling on Premier Alan Winde and mayor Dan Plato to take seriously the issue of land.

Land is economy. Land is money. I am calling on the DA leadership to provide Africans and coloured people with land so that these indigenous people can build their own houses and business opportunities for their families.

The DA must rezone the spaces to accommodate the poorest of the people who live in informal settlements, including backyarders.

DA leaders support the interests of white supremacy and ignore the interests of the poorest of the poor.

I am calling the poor people in the province to stand up and fight for their rights for better basic social services for all.

This year is the year of Covid-19. People all over, around the world are dying and companies all over the world are retrenching workers.

Many people who get retrenched in South Africa are Africans and coloured people. Because many people have no money to rent, their landlords evict them and they occupy open spaces of land to protect their children and families.

I am calling president Cyril Ramaphosa to intervene and address the issue of land and service delivery. This is a ticking time bomb. Without land we cannot have true freedom and independence. Without land we cannot be free from unemployment.

Without land we cannot be free from poverty. NYAMEKO SANDILE | Khayelitsha
