Interview on wellness
TODAY on our Cape Argus Facebook page we’ll feature a live interview with Oona de Klerk, who is an internationally certified holistic health coach, having qualified from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and the founder of Bespoke Body.
De Klerk is also a certified fitness trainer and holds various group fitness training certificates.
Her love for fitness was sparked when she competed in Muay Thai (Thai kickboxing) in her late teens and went on to win a bronze medal in her weight class in the 2002 Amateur World Cup Championships in Bangkok. Competing in a weight class sport triggered a decade-long battle with various eating disorders, which she is passionate about helping other women overcome.
Oona worked as a fitness consultant and then personal trainer at the popular Point Virgin Active gym from 20032007, with many loyal clients.
Between 2007 and last year, she did a 180º turn, working in the costume department in the film industry. Working on many international TV series and movies, she also let her health and fitness slide for a long time – smoking, partying and gaining a lot of weight. In 2015, after rekindling her passion for all things wellness, De Klerk studied to become a holistic health coach, qualifying in 2016.
In 2018 Bespoke Body was launched, but remained a side hustle until January this year, when Oona left the film industry to pursue and build her dream health and fitness career.
“Bespoke Body is a femalefocused holistic wellness brand offering private and group health coaching and fitness classes. I offer in-person and virtual classes, making it accessible from anywhere in the world,” she said.
