MICHAELA’S MURDERER PLEADS GUILTY
THE man accused of murdering 12-year-old Michaela Williams from Pelican Park on January 7 has pleaded guilty to all charges in the Western Cape High Court.
Yesterday, Steven Fortune pleaded guilty to the murder, two counts of rape, and kidnapping.
Michaela went missing just after 7.30pm after she went outside to play.
According to the State, Fortune, who was known to Michaela, lured her to a nearby vacant plot where he strangled her with her skirt, threw two concrete blocks on top of her head and covered her body with a blanket.
He had convictions for attempted murder and rape of a minor, and was sought by police for questioning the day after Michaela disappeared.
On January 8, Fortune texted a relative, giving a location for the police to arrest him. He gave the police a statement and pointed out where he had left Michaela’s body.
