Ramaphosa pandering to the sheep

- JEAN MICHEL BOUVIER | Bryanston

I READ in President Cyril Ramaphosa’s weekly letter, after his video conference last week, that he prioritised climate change.

Pandering to the sheep and banging his cymbals, it seems that every week he changes his main target and focus, with a different thumbsuck when he wakes up each morning.

Last week it was the economy. The week before that it was student funding. And before that it was attracting foreign investment. Before that it was the pandemic and the vaccines.

He has forgotten his other mantra – to tackle poverty and inequality.

Climate change is not a switch to be turned on and off.

It is a time-consuming and bring with it a myriad problems that even economies in the top tier economically and that are run like clockwork have a time horizon of between 20 and 30 years to tackle it.

With our economy crumbling and leaking from all sides and every direction, this joker is talking about 2025 – that we will see results in four years. I wonder how is that possible when the government cannot even fix potholes for years and yet they take only minutes to fix.

Does he really believe what he says, does he think the entire population is as stupid as most of the people in his Cabinet who run the country to the ground or his ANC sheep who keep on voting for this incompetent lot?

I cannot even call it a government anymore as it cannot, and does not, govern.
