Mustadafin Foundation hopes to reach thousands of families during Eid

-

“And they feed, for the love of The Creator, The Indigent, The Orphan and the Captive. No reward do we desire from you, nor thanks.” This has been Mustadafin Foundation’s vehicle in providing services for the past 35 years in the Western, Eastern Cape and Zimbabwe.

Once again the country faces Ramadan during the tough times of the pandemic, where the numbers of poor, destitute and those impacted by lockdown are increasing daily. However, this has not stopped the Mustadafin Foundation from serving them.

This year, under the banner “Sharing a smile of hope in Ramadan”, Mustadafin Foundation is providing services in addition to education, community development, health care, poverty alleviation and disaster relief in the poorest areas to create positive circles and uplift communities.

The month of Ramadan is a month of spirituality and forgiveness, but it is also a month of giving and remembering the destitute, deprived and poor.

Pre-Covid-19, the foundation fed 15 000 people a day - and since last year March, it feeds 27 910 people.

Last year during Ramadan, Mustadafin Foundation was able to assist 5 000 additional people with Suhur (breakfast packs) as well as 10 000 Iftar (supper) meals, every day.

The organisation’s Ramadan programme caters to the communities of Hanover Park, Kewtown, Khayelitsha, Valhalla Park, Bonteheuwel, Netreg, Goodwood, Delft, Tafelsig, Philippi, Manenberg, Fractreton, Beaufort

West and Montague, to mention a few.

The foundation appeals to the public to join its Ramadan Drive to help alleviate hunger this Ramadan and reach thousands of families on Eid day. Donation options include sponsoring a food parcel at R750 or a 100-litre pot of food at R3 500, or feeding a person for a month at R400.

The organisation accepts Fitra, Fidiya, Zakaah, Sadaqah and donations in kind. Operating hours during Ramadan are Monday to Sunday, from 8.30am until 6.30pm.
