Fun things to do in Joburg, Stellenbosch and Durban
THE knock-on effect of the Covid-19 pandemic has meant that many are tightening their belts and curtailing their social outings as a family.
But that doesn’t have to be the case. We’ve picked out some fun things you can do in your city, under R300.
Stellenbosch
Spier Wine Farm wine and soup pairing
To bid farewell to the winter season, Spier Wine Farm is hosting a wine and soup pairing.
The wine and soup pairing is not only for adults but will be open to children, too, under their parents’ supervision.
Kids can join in for a special grape juice tasting while their parents indulge in creamy Jerusalem artichoke soup with truffle cream paired with the Spier Chenin Blanc 2017.
Also on the menu is a light watercress soup with dill and goat’s cheese perfectly paired with the Spier Sauvignon Blanc 2020.
There is also beetroot soup with balsamic pepper and pomegranate jewels, served with the Spier Signature Pinotage 2020.
Meanwhile, slow-roasted cauliflower soup and crunchy cheese fingers will be paired with the Yellowwood Organic Red 2019.
And for desserts, drunken prune cheesecake with brownie crumble will be paired with the Cape Vintage 2017.
All the above can be enjoyed every day at the Tasting Room until August 30 at R120 per person.

Taking place at the Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens, guests will be treated to a movie marathon. Screening this Friday are Twelve, uXolile, The Rose, The Cuddler, Thavhazimbi and Five Tiger. Entrance cost R250 per car (for four people in a car).
