Top female speakers for conference

- Staff Reporter

THE It’s DUE (develop, unite and empower) Women and Leadership Conference, taking place in George next month, has been organised to amplify the voices of South African women who have led enterprises with integrity.

In a time of isolation, the conference will be one of the first face-to-face gatherings for women in leadership and management positions in months. It will be held on September 28 and 29.

The line-up of South African speakers was purposefully selected to underline that there are many world-class leaders within our own borders. Over the two days, 14 women leaders from the government, state-owned enterprises, mining, engineering and business, including self-empowered entrepreneurs, will inspire an audience of women from across many sectors, and provinces.

The conference talking points will include the unique challenges faced by women in the workplace, solutions to them, and how they can confidently question norms, and lead their teams with accountability in challenging times.

Additionally, the conference aims to create a feedback and outcomes document, which will be distributed to the relevant authorities, and seeks to annually build on the foundation it creates by setting new targets and goals.

The essence of the conference is to ensure that women who attend it will be inspired to one day take the podium, and tell of their own leadership trials and tribulations. It also aims to be a catalyst for women to step out from the shadows and provide meaningful solutions to challenges that women face, from a grass roots level and beyond.

But it’s not “all work and no play” – the conference will be hosted at Oubaai Hotel and Spa and, after a day of back-to-back speaker presentations, a trip to the ocean, hiking and spa treatments will be included in the afternoons. A round of golf can also be arranged.

In addition, the conference seeks to raise more awareness of gender-based violence and in line with this, 10% of profits from the conference will be donated to the Survivor Exit Foundation and the Salvation Army.

The event’s organisers, Pinpoint Stewards, commended the Cape Argus for its commitment to equal reporting for women, by supporting the event as media partner. Pinpoint Stewards is a level 2 B-BBEE, 100% women-owned South African company. To be a sponsor for the event or to book for a group, contact: info@ pinpointstewards.co.za
